ABOUT

The WODHSA workshop is part of the Fifth Joint Ontology Workshops (JOWO 2019) Episode V: The Styrian Autumn of Ontology, to be held in Graz, Austria, on September 23-25, 2019.

JOWO is a venue of workshops that, together, address a wide spectrum of topics related to ontology research, ranging from Cognitive Science to Knowledge Representation, Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Logic, Philosophy, and Linguistics.

A first edition of WODHSA called SWTHS took place in 2018 at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Catania (Italy) and was supported by the  Centro di Informatica Umanistica (CINUM).

The current edition of the workshop is a follow up of the previous one but the spectrum of research questions and topics is now enlarged to any sort of conceptual model and ontology for the Digital Humanities, hence it is not limited to Semantic Web approaches. Moreover, WODHSA puts forward emerging research themes in the ambit of the social science analysis of DH information systems and ontologies, e.g., studies on the policies towards the standardization of ontologies for the DH.
