Emilio M.Sanfilippo

I got a Ph.D. degree in ICT from the University of Trento (Italy). From 2013 to (March) 2017 I was research fellow at CNR affiliated to the Laboratory for Applied Ontology (ISTC), and the Institute of Industrial Technologies and Automation (ITIA) (2013-2014).

The research fields in which I specialized are Ontology Engineering, Knowledge Representation, Semantic Web technologies and Business Proocess Modeling. My Ph.D. thesis was focused on knowledge representation and data modeling in design and manufacturing. More specifically, I presented an ontology for the qualitative representation of geometrical product models. The aim was to provide a formal way to handle semantic data in knowledge-based Computer-Aided systems.

I had a research position from 2011 to 2013 at the Institute for Formal Ontology and Medical Information Science (IFOMIS) at Saarland University (Germany).

Next September, I'll chair the 8th International Workshop on Formal Ontologies meet Industry (FOMI).
