Roberta Ferrario is a researcher in the Institute for Cognitive Sciences and Technologies of the CNR, the Italian National Research Council and she works in Trento, at the Laboratory for Applied Ontology. She has finished her PhD in Philosophy under the scope of a co-tutorship program between the Universities of Milan (Italy) and Strasbourg (France) in 2003. The PhD thesis was on a novel approach to counterfactual reasoning, based on Local Model Semantics. She has spent the academic year 2003-2004 at the Suppes Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Science and Technology of Stanford University. She is Co-editor-in-chief of the International journal Applied Ontology (IOS Press), member of the Executive Council of the International Association of Ontology and its Applications (IAOA), she has been PC Chair of the 9th International Conference on Formal Ontology in Information Systems (FOIS 2016) and co-founder of series of workshops like CONTACT (Computer Vision + ONTologies: Applied Cross-disciplinary Technologies) and FOMI (Formal Ontology Meets Industry). From 2012 to 2016 she has been principal investigator of the VisCoSo project, a three year "Research Unit" project grant financed by the Autonomous Province of Trento.
